IFS Kungahara Project

Funded by the European Union, IFS-Kungahara aims at improving food security and boosting farm income for women smallholder farmers in Nyaruguru, Gisagara, Nyanza, Musanze and Karongi Districts. The project focuses on strengthening women’s access to land and productive resources, promoting agroecology and climate-resilient agriculture, improving agricultural productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, strengthening value chains and expanding access to markets. It targeted 3,300 women smallholder farmers organised in 110 cooperatives, 110,000 schoolchildren and approximately 1.7 million people through stronger and more resilient food production systems, contributing to women's economic empowerment, sustainable livelihoods and improved household food and nutrition security.
