The Transformative Impact Fund (TIF)
The Transformative Impact Fund (TIF) is a three-year ActionAid initiative established to advance people-led development by shifting power and resources to people living in poverty and vulnerability. Implemented jointly by ActionAid Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Great Lakes Region project, titled “Resilient Communities and Vibrant Social Justice Movements in the Face of Climate Change in the Great Lakes Region,” aims to improve food and nutrition security and livelihoods for women and young people. It focuses on promoting agroecology and climate-resilient agriculture, strengthening women’s and youth economic empowerment, improving agricultural value chains and market access, advancing land rights and climate justice, and building strong social justice movements through advocacy, citizen participation, leadership development and regional collaboration. The initiative targets approximately 377,100 direct beneficiaries across the four countries, particularly women smallholder farmers, young people, women-led organisations, cooperatives and climate-vulnerable communities.
